JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Medical College of Wisconsin\'s Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing care for patients requiring neurotrauma interventions including cranial, spine, vascular, functional neurosurgery. Primarily working with the team located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Ideal Candidate will be an experienced APP with collegiality, agility, and excellent communication skills, wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to providing direct patient care to an adult population in an Inpatient setting. In this role you will, This position will spend 85% of time rounding on and taking care of inpatients, developing care plans with the Chair of Neurosurgery, constructing progress notes, writing orders, following up on imaging, labs, and other tests, and coordinating care with other services (e.g., neurocritical care, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, otolaryngology, oral / maxillofacial surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and clinical pharmacy). They will participate in multi- and inter-disciplinary care team huddles for all patients on the service, as well as in quality improvement processes for neurotrauma. He or she will interact with residents on the service to sign out patients in the morning from overnight admissions, consultations, and events, as well as in the evening to relay events / plans developed during the day. On weekends, the on-call teams will assume these duties as they currently do. This APP will also spend approximately 15% in the continuity of care of patients who have been admitted to the hospital with TBI in the multidisciplinary TBI clinic being reorganized with Neurosurgery, PM&R, and Neuropsychology. This would start out at one half day per week, expanding to 2/3 of a day.
