What we need: Brady Corp is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer who will play a key role on the Research & Development Team, focused on how customers interact with printers and their built-in and software interfaces. This person possesses the skills to effectively research, design and evaluate experiences from touch screens on hardware to desktop and mobile applications. The team considers the entire life cycle of a product, from purchase to unboxing to usage, and all points in between. Responsibilities include: product research (interviews, observation, product and competitive evaluations, personas, journey maps, etc.); usability testing (moderated, unmoderated, in-person, remote); wireframing (low-fidelity sketches to interactive prototypes); interaction design; information architecture; and content strategy. This person must also work closely with business and technology stakeholders, collaborating and solving problems together that meet Brady’s objectives and exceed customer expectations. What you'll be doing: View product design holistically - not just focusing on user interfaces, but also how physical design, packaging, user manuals, guides and specifications all come together to create the experience. Work closely with R&D engineers to build prototypes of varying fidelity and complexity, that represent the visual identity and interaction models required to evolve products. Conduct user testing activities to identify and resolve usability issues/workflow optimization in prototypes and existing products. Bring technology and business stakeholders together to brainstorm future-looking solutions and identify unmet user needs. Translate those ideas into testable concepts. Provide design solutions to existing user experience challenges. Create compelling, high-quality deliverables that convey findings, recommendations and concepts (e.g. task flows, wireframes, journey maps, competitive analysis). Research users and their needs through techniques such as interviews, observations and surveys, and create summaries and presentations that distill these findings. Collaborate closely with development teams, training teams and business stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions. Effective communicator both verbally and digitally. Represent design and research needs in planning sessions. Performs other tasks as required. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the duties listed on this job description. What you’ll need to be successful: Bachelor's Degree, optimally in interaction, graphic or industrial design, HCI or other related fields. Minimum 5 years’ experience in user experience design or related area. Demonstrated knowledge of design research tools and methods, including ethnography, field observation, contextual inquiry, usability testing and prototype testing. Excellent analytical skills coupled with the ability to clearly articulate complex design problems and solutions using effective communication and presentation skills. Excellent relationship management skills involving multidisciplinary teams. Self-starter that is highly productive, detail-oriented, methodical and have a can do attitude.
