Xcel Energy Fleet Equipment Reliability Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary

Responsible for managing engineering personnel in support of operation and maintenance of the company's nuclear stations. Ensure continued high levels of staff performance through routine performance evaluations and coaching, making work assignments, establishing priorities for those assignments, providing oversight of work activities to ensure work is completed to meet expected quality and schedule requirements. Responsible for performance of assessments and oversight of program and project development and implementation to ensure that industry and company criteria is satisfied. Responsible for developing staff capabilities and bench-strength, and when necessary, ensuring the necessary staff is deployed to support resolution of emergent stations issues.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide site leadership for identification and resolution of equipment reliability and engineering issues through the Engineering Organization. Establish and reinforce a vision for roles and responsibilities of engineers performing monitoring, trending and analysis of plant equipment performance to identify potential safety or generation challenges. Develop comprehensive plans for resolution of equipment issues and improvements of safety system reliability and availability. Define, document and integrate plans with site work schedules, strategic and business plans, and O&M and capital budgets.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to engineering staff members. This includes, evaluating performance and providing coaching, facilitating staff development and proficiency, setting and enforcing standards and driving continuous improvement.

  • Interface with management to support day-to-day plant operations and maintenance including investigation of emergent equipment issues, support for equipment troubleshooting and leadership in alignment of plant work schedules.

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Equipment Reliability and Engineering programs, processes, and initiatives through their assigned groups. This includes oversight for program and process analysis, development of long range improvements plans, leadership of ER and Engineering committees and forums, integration of initiatives and actions into site and fleet strategic and financial plans and incorporation of industry experience and standards into the site engineering programs.

  • Provide leadership for Emergency Response Teams and facilities for preparation and response to plant events as part of site-specific ERO assignments and duties. Also support outage functions and assignments for each of the sites.

  • Support development and management of the Engineering O&M and capital budgets. Support development and management for Site and Fleet budgets.

  • Perform regular interface with industry groups including INPO, NRC, EPRI for development of standards for organization performance of equipment reliability and engineering activities, programs, and processes. Work with industry groups to identify needed changes in performance by the site or fleet to implement industry initiatives for program and process improvements.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating integrated nuclear power knowledge. Eight years related experience including two years of supervisory experience or equivalent senior technical or lead role. Five years of nuclear experience preferred. Must have significant experience with evaluating and solving engineering issues. Professional engineering certification is preferred. Management training or education preferred. SRO license or certification preferred.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $122,000.00 to $173,933.33 per year
