SUMMARY:

  • Atomization: Prepare, maintain and operate the atomizing unit including: preparation of atomizing equipment, preparation of raw materials ensuring heat chemistries are within specification and operation of the atomizer ensuring that assigned parameters are followed during atomization.

  • Powder Processing: Perform powder processing procedures including preparation, screening powder, blending powder, loading containers, and operating vacuum systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

General Plant:

  • Develop and maintain effective communication to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.

  • Adhere to and participate with company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Perform work following all company quality standards and customer specifications to ensure a quality product is being produced including required documentation.

  • Accurate use of shop floor business system (EBS).

  • Maintain all equipment to ensure proper utilization.

Atomizer Heat Preparation:

  • Prepare heats efficiently and accurately to promote continuous atomization.

  • Verify material chemistry and documentation in accordance with required specification.

Atomizer Heat Turnaround:

  • Clean, Inspect, and perform Tape Test of all equipment, fixtures and containers to meet Quality requirements.

  • Inspect & install all equipment required for melt using cranes and other mobile equipment.

  • Change collection IBCs between pours.

Pouring Heat: Atomization of Heat

  • Verify all documentation, equipment and materials are ready for atomization.

  • Perform atomization processes to meet required specifications.

Powder Processing Equipment Preparation:

  • Clean, Inspect, and perform Tape Test of all equipment, fixtures, containers, and clean rooms to meet Quality requirements.

  • Prepare loading equipment, screeners and IBC’s as required.

Processing of Powder:

  • Operate powder screening equipment to meet customer specifications.

  • Transfer, blend, and store powder using appropriate equipment and storage containers.

  • Load containers with powder and condition for next process (HIP, outgas or shipment).

  • Prepare and mark parts as required in process.

Testing:

  • Provide samples to customers (quality, technology, external customers) following procedures for marking and documentation.

  • Complete test for control of screening and demag.

Grade Change:

  • Clean, Inspect, and perform Tape Test of all equipment, fixtures and containers to meet grade change Quality requirements. Equipment includes filters, valves, cyclones, IBCs, screens and piping.

  • Perform tower cleaning process using approved processes to meet Quality requirements.

  • Perform all installation and other assemblies required for Atomization and Screening operations

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Required to pass Respirator Protection screening

  • 3 years VIM/ESR/VAR or powder melt experience preferred

  • 5 years manufacturing experience preferred

  • Able to read, understand, and work to melt procedures, specifications

  • Read and use gauges and controls.

  • Maintain required records and heat reports in a legible manner.

  • Capable of operating industrial controls and mobile equipment.

  • Familiar with basic computer operation.
