Job Summary

The Pension Manager is responsible for the management of CN’s Canadian and United States (US) Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) pension plans. The incumbent is part of the Total Rewards team, which manages compensation and benefits programs of CN’s workforce.

Main Responsibilities

· General management of DB and DC pension plans and savings plans

· Oversee plan governance and regulatory filings

· Coordinate and actively participate in pension committee meetings

· Ensure plan documents are up-to-date and in compliance with applicable legislation

· Manage services and fees of providers such as actuarial consultants, third party administrators and pension trustees

· Monitor quality of plan administration, actuarial valuation and billing process

· Manage the resolution of special or complex administration matters

· Prepare internal actuarial valuation estimates, pension costings and liability analysis

· Analyze, price and implement changes related to plan design

· Develop and create communication and education strategies for plan participants

· Participate in pension funding decisions, plan design reviews and risk management strategies with Human Resources, Finance and Treasury functions and with the CN Investment Division

· Participate in the review of fund managers and investment fund line up for DC plans

· Participate in the development of long-term pension strategy

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular [PC1] (file:///C:/Users/xt35682/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/INetCache/Content.Outlook/64QYJAVD/Pension%20Manager%20June%202024.docx#msocom1) workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines andhandle pressure. The role requires minimal travel (approximately once per year) inCanada or US.

Requirements

Experience

Specialty Pension Management

· Minimum 10 years of experience in pension management

Education/Certification/Designation

· Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent

· Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) *

*Any designation for these systems above would be considered as an asset
