Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking an Assistant Director of Residence Life. We are seeking energetic, flexible, highly engaged staff who are eager to learn and develop. Residence Directors at SUNY Morrisville gain solid experience in all aspects of Residence Life.

The Office of Residence Life supports the mission of the College by providing a living and learning environment that is conducive to academic achievement and optimal personal growth. We seek to develop a sense of belonging and respect within our residential community by helping our diverse student body acquire knowledge and skills related to Social Responsibility, Holistic Student Development, Practical Experience, Inclusion and Diversity.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the department in areas of Diversity Initiatives, Judicial Affairs, Recruitment, Retention, Operational Software, Residential Curriculum and Restorative Justice.

  • May supervise professional and para-professional residence life staff.

  • Implementation and development of Living Learning Communities and Themed Housing

  • Oversee and enhance Residential Curriculum

  • Work with University Police and other partners to assure the safety of students on campus

  • Resident Director supervision, selection, and training

  • Participation in a rotating duty schedule and other work-related commitments during nights and weekends

  • Community building and promoting diversity within the residence halls and campus community

  • Serving on departmental and campus wide committees

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience working as a Student Affairs professional

  • Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree

  • 4+ years of experience working as a Student Affairs professional

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Residential Curriculum and Restorative Justice

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including teams, publisher, etc.
