rrPosition Summary:

rThis position implements university safety and security policies to create a safe and secure environment for the university community both day-to-day and during event operations. They also play a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service. This position also provides shift leadership for security services on campus and at events.This is an essential position that may be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.Duties may include:

  • Supervise staff during major university events
  • Lead regular briefings and training sessions, review security reports, assist in hiring personnel
  • Manage security equipment and vehicle maintenance
  • Provide security services, including Safe Walks, extra patrols and building lockouts
  • Maintain daily activity log and promptly report emergencies to university, city and state officials
  • Conduct patrols and provide event-related security services
  • Other duties as assigned

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

{=html} <!-- --> - One year as a safety/security officer - Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals - Using principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation - Security experience during events that require screening for entry

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

  • Knowledge of safety and security operations best practices, including patrol and security methods and procedures
  • Demonstrated competence with written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrated experience:
    • Supervising security staff at large events that require screening
    • Training employees
    • With conflict management and resolution
    • Using customer service skills
    • Working with occasional exposure to dissatisfied or belligerent individuals
    • Using interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy
    • Thinking clearly and logically, using sound judgement and making rapid and logical decisions in emergencies

rrPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:

rMust be able to:

  • Move around and between venues throughout the workday
  • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Bend, stoop, shovel and be comfortable working at significant heights
  • Traverse any part of campus including asphalt, sidewalks, grass, dirt, playgrounds, etc.
  • Sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
