In this exciting role as a Pre-market Software Safety Engineering Manager, the candidate will have responsibility for ensuring our products exceed the safety requirements and expectations of patients, clinicians, regulators, and the business.

As part of Research & Development (R&D) project teams, the Pre-market Software Safety Engineering Manager will lead a team of pre-market software safety engineers. This team will work with multidisciplinary teams and provide leadership for Design for Reliability (DfR), guidance to technical issues, engagement in design and risk reviews, and contribute to development activities. The candidate will be a key leader and player in cross-functional teams and serve as a focal point and technical representative for safety.

The ideal candidate has safety and/or field experience with strong people leadership skills.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit and requires on-site presence at least three days a week.

A Day in the Life :

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Pre-Market Software Safety Engineering Manager role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

· Direct management of direct reports. Management duties include budget management, resource management and project management.

· Manage annual expense budget and help develop annual operating budget.

· Recruit, hire, and onboard new team resources.

· Coach and mentor staff resources. Manage team individual’s performance and development plans.

· Define team and organizational initiatives to improve team capabilities or efficiencies. Lead or delegate these initiatives.

· Work cross-functionally with project teams to plan R&D project budgets and staff those teams.

· Work cross functionally to improve the value provided to project teams by our team.

· Review team’s deliverables and provide management review of QMS deliverables.

Specialized Knowledge

· 5 years’ experience as a functional manger leading technical teams

MUST HAVE - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

· Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 3 years of technical experience

Nice to Have

· Experience in software design for medical devices

· Experience as a functional manager or a leadership role within a team.

· Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Software Quality Engineers (CSQE) or equivalent certification

· Experience in risk management for software and software systems, including risk analysis and risk/benefit evaluation.

· Experience working with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971 standards

· Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Lean Sigma (DFLS), Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM), or other robust design practices

· Proficiency in two or more of the following technologies: C, C++, Java, Java Script, HTML, VBScript, C#, .NET, Perl, Python, Objective C, Angular, Xamarin

· Proficiency in one or more of the following tools: Visual Studio, Automated test tool Microsoft Test Manager, Web based applications, Eclipse, Visual Source Safe, and Requisite Pro.

· Experience in one or more of the following operating systems: Windows, Linux, Android and IOS

· Experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc. 

Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
