We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what's important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 2-3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT TEAM The Core Services team at Parametric:

  • Primarily focuses on developing highly resilient and scalable core data services on AWS cloud providing unified API interface across business domains.
  • Leverage NoSql database, Spring Boot, Java, Python, React and AWS native applications such as S3, AWS Lambda, AWS ECS/EKS for Docker container orchestration, ElastiCache, DynamoDB etc.
  • Additional area of focus is to build and manage platform event message hub on Confluent Kafka Cloud and AWS MSK.

ABOUT THE ROLE The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for design, development, and integration of various new and existing technology solutions that supports various aspects of our investment management processes. This role will require extensive interaction and communication, requirements gathering across various other teams in the organization and implementation leveraging best in class technologies and will lead development of microservices and API's on AWS cloud. The Lead Software Engineer will also be responsible for providing thought leadership and people leadership to delivery teams while also contributing directly to the design, development, delivery and support of custom developed applications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide flexible solutions to complex business problems using our technology best practices - Design and develop cloud native (AWS) micro-services with primary focus on correctness and performance - General understanding of API gateways, security entitlements and event-based system desired - Integrate with other services in the ecosystem or public API's and databases - Apply best in class engineering principles, optimized algorithms, and data structure techniques - Create unit/integration/functional tests - Conduct code reviews of other developers and participate in git merge reviews - Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate - Research new cloud apps/open-source technologies and incorporate in existing services/API's - Mentor other developers - Conduct code reviews of other developers - Provide technical leadership to other Software Engineers

JOB QUALIFICATIONS SKILL SET Required Experience: 10 years Skill set: Java / Cloud Development (AWS preferred) / Microservices Architecture/ REST/Graphql

PRIMARY SKILLS - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering required - 10 years of hands-on Java development experience with primary focus on backend systems - 3 years supervising and guiding software development teams and fostering an engaging, collaborative environment - 2 years experience in cloud native services development (AWS preferred) - Knowledge about orchestration services, Docker and Kubernetes desired - Experience developing REST/Graphql API horizontally scalable services - Experience in event-based architectures and messaging platforms like Kafka is desired - Experience architecting projects integrating across systems - Understanding of micro-services architecture/containerization - Proven experience with test driven development - Familiarity with GIT version control system - Working experience with agile development - Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools like Maven or Gradle - Hands-on experience with RDBMS and/or NoSql databases like DynamoDB/Redis - Effective communication skills with business users and other developers - Financial services, especially asset management industry experience

Good to Have Skills - Experience with JavaScript/React development - Multi-threading programming - Python and/or C# object oriented development - Knowledge of distributed systems like Apache Cassandra
