Job Summary:

Job Description Summary

Conducts computer and network data acquisition, recovery, digital forensic investigations, and preservation for electronic discovery (eDiscovery) under occasional guidance. Troubleshoots and resolves complex digital data investigation, production, and preservation issues. Implements small and medium technology projects or components of large projects. Ability to solve medium to complex problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs eDiscovery acquisition, production, and preservation.

  • Conducts digital forensic investigations for eDiscovery cases.

  • Responsible for the digital forensic lab and eDiscovery data inventory.

  • Continuous improvement of the existing eDiscovery capabilities of the team, and enhancement with new capabilities as needed.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • DIGITAL EVIDENCE ACQUISITION:- Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Digital Evidence acquisition practices in practical applications of moderate difficulty, from varied sources of Digital Evidence including but not limited to: common operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Unix, various mobile), common data storage platforms (network attached storage, network shares, online data storage such as Dropbox and OneDrive), both on-premises and online email platforms (Exchange, Google, etc.). Has a basic understanding of, and capability using techniques and tools required for these tasks.

  • DIGITAL EVIDENCE PRESERVATION:- Ability to execute preservation of Digital and Physical Evidence for eDiscovery cases, in myriad platforms and from myriad data sources. Familiarity with the concepts of Litigation Holds, and common application methods. Understanding of the concept of Chain of Custody, and adherence to the best practices to ensure Data Integrity on acquired Digital Evidence.

  • DIGITAL FORENSICS:- Demonstrates the ability to accurately and timely conduct investigations of Digital Evidence using Digital Forensic techniques, and producing investigation reports for higher level review. Responsible for the curation of the Digital Forensic process documentation (Work Instructions, etc), and of the overall Digital Forensic capability at the organization; includes training other analysts on Digital Forensic processes as needed for non-eDiscovery needs (cybersecurity).

  • FORENSIC SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE:- Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development, and enhancement of the Digital Forensic lab for the organization. Ability to properly maintain common operating systems and computing platforms, as well as more purpose-built Digital Forensic computing equipment (data duplicators, write-blockers, etc.).

  • DATA STORAGE AND INVENTORY:- Capable of accurate and precise catalogue and tracking of Digital Evidence preserved for customers in the organization; ongoing review and purging as needed. Managing and maintaining proper storage platforms for Digital Evidence, in addition to the physical Digital Forensic lab at the organization.
