Wilkinson County Board of Education Child Nutrition Supervisor in Natchez, Mississippi

JOB DESCRIPTION   TITLE: Child Nutrition Supervisor                                QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field
  2. Five years or more experience preferred
  3. Thorough knowledge of equipment use and care in food service requirements
  4. Thorough knowledge of equipment use and care in food service facilities
  5. Considerable knowledge of personnel management principles
  6. Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships
  7. Considerable knowledge of food preparation and serving practices
  8. Working knowledge of budgetary principles
  9. Ability to compile and analyze data

      SUPERVISES:           *Child nutrition staff   *REPORTS TO:                      *Superintendent of Education   *JOB GOAL: The Child Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Child Nutrition Programs including national school, lunch, and breakfast programs; snack program; and the Summer Feeding program.   TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:

  10. Works with managers on needs for day/week/etc. and prepares for meetings/conferences 

  11. Coordinates all information concerning special needs students
  12. Works with parents about all concerns
  13. Works with district personnel regarding Child Nutrition needs 
  14. Orders all food and supplies for all cafeterias in district including commodity and DOD
  15. Works with CN staff concerning all purchases (food, equipment, supplies etc.)
  16. Responsible for all Child Nutrition training needs 
  17. Conducts all manager and employee meetings
  18. Prepares and monitors annual budget
  19. Reviews monthly fundamental reports to determine financial viability
  20. Determines department needs consistent with current profit and loss statements
  21. Develops spreadsheets for equipment and other department needs
  22. Works with vendors for equipment
  23. Audits all reports for submission to state/local entities 
  24. Addresses employee concerns
  25. Addresses employee schedules

  29. Reviews all claims/reports for reimbursement reported to state
  30. Addresses any areas of concern relating to reimbursement/expenditures
  31. Reviews department accounts payable responsibility
  32. Reviews NSLP, NSBP, and ASSP 
  33. Reviews all time and attendance reports weekly 
  34. Works with managers about employee problems (absences, employee work, etc.)
  35. Reviews work related injuries 
  36. Monitors food and supply inventory all sites
  37. Reviews department standards regarding "offer vs. serve" requirements
  38. Completes all grant applications
  39. Develops and monitors HACCP manual and required documentation
  40. Determines departmental needs for technology
  41. Serves as Wellness Coordinator for the district
    1. Schedules wellness meeting
    2. Reviews wellness guidelines
    3. Checks for compliance for wellness by site
    4. Schedules and attends wellness meeting
    5. Develops agenda and in-services for wellness committee needs
    6. Prepares annual wellness reports for the Board of Trustees
  42. Provides managers with appropriate support for individual sites
  43. Visits sites as needed
    1. Monitors red books
  44. Prepares reports for central office as needed
  45. Verifies free and reduced lunch information is accurate for submission
  46. Works with school staff concerning free and reduced status
  47. Verifies that all paperwork is in accordance with USDA guidelines
  48. Submits maintenance work orders
  49. Submits technology work orders
  50. Monitors work order completions
  51. Interviews and hire new employees 
  52. Determines work schedules for Child Nutrition employees
  53. Monitors "One Call" system
  54. Monitors student balances by site and notifies p incipals of outstanding balances
  55. Provides schools with nutrition materials as requested
  56. Attends IEP meetings when requested
  57. Confers with auditor
  58. Meets with vendors as needed

     

Completes National School Lunch contracts with state department

  1. Determines compliance with USDA 
  2. Health department inspections

Completes Summer Feeding Contract with state department

  1. Develops menus and assigns managers and employees for summer feeding 
  2. Develops budget for summer feeding
  3. Provides required in-service for summer feeding program

Oversees Fresh Fruit and Vegetable grant for eligible schools(3)

  1. Places and verifies orders 
  2. Processes invoices for payment
  3. Processes claims
  4. Monitors grant for remaining funds
  5. Works with sites for usage, etc.
  6. Researches new items G. Discusses items with vendors

Develops menus 

  1. Monthly menus for elementary and secondary schools including nutrient analysis to comply with USDA requirements
  2. Submits carbohydrate analysis for students with diabetes to nurses
  3. Submits menus to managers and web manager
