Job Summary
Westat is seeking a Certified Oncology Data Specialist (CTR) for work based out of the Washington, DC area. Westat currently supports several central cancer registry operations and is looking for a candidate familiar with case-finding, quality reviews, consolidation, and data management.
A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site at a Westat office location is preferred, remote work arrangements will be considered.
Job Responsibilities
Participation in and performance of quality control activities.
Assist with data acquisition activities.
Abstraction and oncology coding of cancer cases.
Visual review and editing as well as records consolidation.
Case-finding and re-abstracting facility audits.
Preparation and maintenance of procedure manuals to meet pertinent state and federal cancer reporting requirements.
Conduction of and/or participation in educational training activities in support of multiple cancer-related projects.
File preparation and submissions of data to standard setters and State agencies.
Perform other job-related duties as needed or directed.
Basic Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in public health or health related field with ODS (CTR) certification is required.
At least 3 years of oncology coding/abstracting experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in public health or health science related field.
Experience in central cancer registry operations.
Experience with hospital operations.
Experience with data analysis.
Experience with RegistryPlus Suite, Rocky Mountain Cancer Data System and SEER*DMS.

Pay Range:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $56,200 to $66,300 commensurate with experience.
