U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in Naval Station Complex, California

Summary You will serve as a FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in the AFLOAT TRAINING GROUP PACIFIC of Commander, Afloat Training Group Pacific (COMAFLOATRAGRUPAC). Responsibilities You will serve as a technical expert and advisor to the Afloat Training Group, Pacific (ATGPAC), Fleet and component commands on all phases of government travel for military, civilian personnel and military dependents. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining standardized travel administration and related financial management policies and procedures ensuring all requirements are set forth in higher echelon directives and regulations are met. You will prepare and disseminate specific travel and related financial procedural guidance, advice, analysis and recommendations to provide consistency in the management of the ATGPAC Defense Travel System (DTS) program. You will develop new and unique techniques and approaches to managing the extensive array of government travel program rules and regulations, travel authorization and voucher preparation/approval, audit and verification, and budgetary accountability. You will review/approves, analyze and manage multiple lines of accounting from within the Afloat Training Organization and external commands. You will analyze and process travel requests in accordance with applicable instructions, orders and directives. You will arrange domestic and international air transportation. You will arrange government and commercial berthing. You will prepare travel orders using DTS, depending on the type of travel. You will conduct travel audits and provide reports to the Travel Manager. You will independently determine that entitlements are valid and allowable. You will provide customer service in response to both telephonic and written inquires related to travel claims. You will monitor, tracks and adjust travel obligations and expenditures in the Standard Accounting and Reporting System. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing travel, accounting, and budgeting assistance to support a financial program's goals within an organization.
