Position Summary/Description:

This position supports the handling and digitization of a wide variety of special collections materials for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. They coordinate the drop off and pick up of batches of materials from the Center’s partner organizations, assess the materials and determine the appropriate workflow, review finished images for quality and accuracy, and write blog posts related to the historical context of the materials. This position will supervise and train digitization staff. The Digital Projects Coordinator occasionally travels to visit cultural heritage institutions.

Education and Experience:

Experience creating training documentation and providing training.

Essential Skills:

Accredited master’s degree in library science, information science, or public history. A deep understanding of the differences between a wide variety of cultural heritage institutions. Significant experience involving digitization of library, archive, and museum materials. Experience with descriptive standards and practices. Excellent communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, to successfully balance competing priorities. Experience successfully communicating with a broad array of constituencies. Supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
