Omaha Public Power District Engineering Intern/Co-Op - ME or EE - Spring-Summer (Jan-Aug) Power Gen South in Nebraska City, Nebraska

Department: Power Generation Engineering South

Location: Nebraska City Station

Duration: Spring//Summer (Jan-Aug)

Work Schedule: Day shift (8 hour per day) Monday through Friday or Flexibility to work four 10 hour days

Pay: $25.06 - $30.63

Job Responsibilities:

Support the Power Generation Engineering team with design development, investigating and resolving equipment problems, coordinating the work activities of outside consulting engineers to resolve equipment problems, preparing plant performance trends, field verify and update drawings, supporting testing and inspections of equipment, assisting in system health monitoring, and performing component criticality classifications.

Qualifications

Specific fields of study required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • 2.5 GPA or higher is required

  • Sophomore status or higher

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Current full-time college student pursuing Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree program

  • Must be attending an accredited college/university

  • Sophomore year completed by the start of the work term

  • Desire to return for second term preferred

    Technical Ability (i.e. software):

    Ability to analyze data and report results

    Strong problem solving skills and ability to determine cause of issues and necessary actions Ability to work independently and within a team

    Strong collaboration skills to work with engineers, operations and maintenance personnel Extensive use of Microsoft Office tools, especially excel spreadsheets
