Posting Summary | The Cinema Studies Program at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick) invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track, one-year position as Lecturer in Cinema Studies, to begin in September 1, 2022. We seek a colleague whose research and teaching address African-American, African Diaspora, and global Black cinemas; additional expertise in transnational, intersectional, and transhistorical approaches is welcome. Strong consideration will be given to the teaching records of candidates, especially those adept at teaching introductory film courses that emphasize close textual analysis, genres, and the historical development of cinema in its social, technological, and cultural complexities. In addition to gateway courses and surveys of world cinema, candidates will have the opportunity to teach more specialized classes based on their research in global Black and/or African-American cinemas. Teaching load is 3-3. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2022 in Film Studies or a related field. |
