About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:

A Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that the business unit location or group has all necessary systems, procedures and processes in place to remain compliant with governing quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee activities of both the Quality Engineering and Weld Engineering teams in support of Sea and Land Programs.

  • Prioritize and lead execution of Discrepancy Item (DI) resolution in support of Production and Test milestones.

  • Analyze quality trends and determine high drivers from the perspective of schedule, cost, risk, and disruption.Lead associated Root Cause and Corrective Action efforts.

  • Ensure quality requirements and standards are developed, applied and maintained for the development and manufacture of products within the group or location.

  • Ensure maintenance of all necessary quality records and documentation in support of the group or location in accordance with the Quality Manual and specific customer requirements.

  • Ensure methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection are designed, documented and effectively implemented to meet quality standards and requirements.

  • Ensure all necessary quality-reporting measures are developed and executed. Analyze outputs to identify best practices, opportunities for improvement and risk areas and ensure necessary corrective actions are taken where applicable.

  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.

  • Ensure processes are in place for the review of customer purchase orders and specifications, change requests and contracts and that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in the quality and process plans.

  • Ensure appropriate systems exist for the review of suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.

  • Conduct internal quality audits in accordance with documented processes and standards.

  • Interface with external auditors, suppliers and customer quality representatives concerning quality assurance standards and systems are functioning effectively and that effective corrective action processes are in place when failures occur.

Qualifications

Education:

BS degree in Quality, Business, Engineering or related field.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in Quality management processes, preferably in a manufacturing industry.

  • Textron Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Results oriented inclusive of a strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.

  • Must have demonstrated technical expertise and broad expertise in complex organizations including research and development activities.

  • Leadership and visionary skills to drive results and persuade management on Quality priorities.

  • Ability to communicate with across the organization with both internal and external customers.

  • Ability to perform effectively within budgetary guidelines.

  • Significant background and experience in establishing procedures, practices and methodology related to Quality.

  • Decisive and confident, open and candid with the ability to energize others.

  • Proven experience with building strong and dependable teams.

  • Skilled in the use of project management tools, establishing business systems and process flow.

  • Possesses excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Operates within the boundaries of the Textron Business Conduct Guidelines.

Postural: Must have the ability to move extremities and spine throughout a sufficient range of motion that will permit the employee to work in a variety of postures involving a range from floor to overhead level.Flexing and twisting of the trunk and other awkward postures are occasionally required.

Dexterity :Must have a good dexterity and frequently use one and two hands throughout the work period for tasks involving fingering, gripping and manipulation.

Cardiorespiratory Demand :Must have sufficient cardiorespiratory fitness to be able to perform medium work involving heavy lifting.Must be able to safely tolerate medium demands on the cardiorespiratory system in various temperature ranges and humidity.

General Physical Activities :Include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, seeing distant/reading, reaching, hearing, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs and balancing.

Physical Demand Level - Medium :Must be able to perform medium physical labor as classified by the United States Department of Labor.Physical demands typically involve lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling not to exceed 60 lbs.
