JOB REQUIREMENTS: As a Advanced Service Technician, you will be performing basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agriculture and turf equipment. Responsibilities: Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments Accounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties May perform diagnosis and repair in the field Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees Participates in the After-Hours Program Actively assists in recruiting service work Shares knowledge and skills with other company technicians Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments Performs other duties as assigned Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made. Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices. Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers\' performance specifications. Estimate costs of vehicle repair. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors. Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes. Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements. Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience. Conduct visual inspections of compressed natural gas fuel systems to identify cracks, gouges, abrasions, discoloration, broken fibers, loose brackets, damaged gaskets, or other problems. Install, adjust, or repair hydraulic or electromagnetic automatic lift mechanisms used to raise and lower automobile windows, seats, and tops. Repair, replace, or adjust defective fuel injectors, carburetor parts, and gasoline filters. Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning. Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment. Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps. Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings. Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure proper operation. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems. Change spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, and batteries in hybrid electric vehicles. Maintain cleanliness of work area. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups. Repair or rebuild transmissions. Diagnose and replace or repair engine management systems or related sensors for flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) with ignition timing, fuel rate, alcohol concentration, or air-to-fuel ratio malfunctions. Rebuild parts, such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge: High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate degree preferred 5+ years of experience performing service repairs or certificate/diploma from a recognized program Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance sing special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes Ability to use a forklift/skid loader, forklift certification preferred Proficient oral and written communication skills Basic Service Technician certification preferred Physical and Mental and Other Requirements: Frequent bending and stooping Ability to repeatedly lift up to 75 lbs.
