The Fountainhead Group, Inc. Manufacturing Industrial Engineer in New York Mills, New York

The Fountainhead Group is looking for a Manufacturing Industrial Engineer to join our FGI Family and support as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. Relocation Package available!

The Manufacturing Industrial Engineer is responsible for supporting the VP of Manufacturing Engineering to insure manufacturing systems are optimized via data driven system to effectively support plant production. This includes creating, maintaining, troubleshooting and improving this system(s) with an overall goal to improve quality, improve efficiencies and drive down costs.

This role is to create a vision, gain alignment and implement good industrial manufacturing practices for an international leader in household and professional sprayers where production, quality, and efficiency data is collected and used to drive business decisions. The outcome will be to determine where to best focus resources and set project priorities as we re-align and prepare to automate our production processes. The net result will be a highly efficient production facility where we implement cutting-edge technology and use data to drive the business to increase our brand’s footprint and business worldwide. This is a key role with direct access to the decision makers to make this transformation a reality.

Responsibilities

Works with senior management to create a manufacturing vision detailing automation, data collection, material flows, inventory and WIP to optimize production flow throughout the facility.

Works with company management to develop process to effectively re-shore production from our international suppliers.

Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues.

Works with other departments to develop design and production standards.

Monitors operations with an eye toward improving productivity and efficiency.

Designs efficient production processes and workflows.

Ensures that processes are designed to ensure that products meet quality standards.

Reduces waste and addresses production issues.

Reviews production schedules, processes, and specifications to improve/reduce changeover times and WIP.

Evaluates data to implement technological improvements in production processes.

Identifies potential process locations and has input to facility design to optimize product flow through the production process.

Prepares inventory analysis and procurement purchase orders to address production needs.

Designs facility layout and personnel requirements (work cells) in relation to production operations.

Helps to develop SOPs for production operations.

Works with the Safety Manager to ensure work processes are safe and addresses safety issues and concerns.

Generates process documentation and reports

Qualifications

Understanding of lean manufacturing and supply-chain management

Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Just In Time (JIT) strategizing

Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards preferably in our industry

Able to conduct time studies and work cell development to remove inefficiencies from production processes

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Data analytics skills and experience

Attention to detail

Understanding of ergonomics

Project management skills

Strong communication and presentation skills

Organizational, planning, and documentation skills

Adept at using presentation software and presenting complex information to non-technical management personnel and other stakeholders

Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously

Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) platforms

Experience using System Applications and Products (Epicore) software

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

BS in industrial engineering or related field such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering, required

3-5 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment

Typical work hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm with times where off-hours work may be needed.
