The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks an Assistant Dean and Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor for the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS). The discipline and area of expertise should align to the divisional offerings: Business and Management, Technology, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts and Humanities.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of DAUS, the Assistant Dean provides day-to-day oversight of and support for the Division’s strategic priorities, plans, and projects, and liaises and collaborates with stakeholders within and beyond DAUS to advance the Division’s impact and success. The Assistant Dean is the main point of contact on projects and initiatives addressing technology, process, and policy issues for the Division’s strategic project portfolio, and coordinates evaluation and measurement of Divisional effectiveness in making progress toward plans and goals.

The Assistant Dean has an immediate and ongoing impact on the Division’s productivity by streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management, and communicating objectives to Divisional stakeholders. The assistant dean will be a leading collaborator with the Associate Dean in the launch and implementation of the Division’s strategic growth plan, new Prior Learning Assessment processes, fully online degrees, and work-based learning initiatives. The successful candidate will teach within the undergraduate programs in DAUS; develop courses; advise students; collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and engage with the broader NYUSPS academic community, as appropriate.

This full-time position is a nine-month appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract; the Assistant Dean role is a twelve-month administrative appointment that runs concurrent with the faculty role.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,00. The range for the annual administrative stipend is $45,000 - $55,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies within NYU SPS focuses on providing career-focused, application-oriented undergraduate programs delivering practical knowledge and skills that prepare students for success in their chosen careers. The Division primarily serves transfer students and degree completers, working adults, military affiliated learners, and others looking to reskill or upskill for continued professional success. Uniquely at NYU, the Division offers associate’s degree options in business, information systems and management, bachelor’s degrees in leadership and management, information systems management, and social sciences, as well as apprenticeship degrees at the associate’s level, and online options for degree completion of associates and bachelor’s degrees.

The Division’s 13 full-time, more than 200 adjunct practitioner faculty members, and team of full-time professional advisers prepare approximately 670 matriculated undergraduate students to become innovative leaders in their chosen careers.

Faculty members should have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and teaching a diverse population of students.

The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline); (ii) have a significant industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education, (iv) have experience working with or teaching diverse student populations. Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
