Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Research Scientist. In this role, the successful candidate Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with a background in MR physics, biomedical engineering, or electrical engineering to join our interdisciplinary research team. As an Associate Research Scientist, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing NYUs scientists their understanding of biological processes and disease models through cutting-edge preclinical imaging techniques. Specifically, the candidate will design, optimize, and fabricate tailored high-field MRI protocols for in vivo and ex vivo small animal studies. These skills and expertise will directly contribute to NYU researchers ability to explore noninvasive imaging methods and gain deeper insights into complex biological phenomena.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Maintain Imaging Instruments:Rigorously test, calibrate, and validate imaging instruments and accessories to ensure optimal sensitivity, resolution, and specificity for preclinical studies.
    • Implement Cutting-Edge Protocols:Operate and implement advanced imaging protocols using state-of-the-art technologies available at the preclinical imaging core dedicated for small animals.
    • Collaborate with Experts:Work closely with NYU researchers and other experts to identify specific imaging needs and requirements for small animal imaging and spectroscopy.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Contribute to Scientific Publications: Share findings through scientific publications and presentations.
Mentorship: Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in using preclinical imaging instruments for in vivo and ex vivo experiments, as well as monitoring vital signs in animals.
Optimize Experimental Setups: Assist in optimizing experimental setups for efficient data acquisition.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a : Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Technical Expertise:
o Strong background in MRI physics, pulse sequence design, and image reconstruction.
o Experience with maintaining imaging instruments.
o Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, and desirable but not necessary knowledge of simulation software (e.g., CST, Comsol) for data analysis and simulation.
o Familiarity with preclinical imaging techniques and animal models.
Interpersonal Skills:
o Excellent communication skills.
o Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-On Experience: Prior experience operating Bruker MR imaging and spectroscopy scanners, as well as implementing advanced imaging protocols.
Publication Record: Track record of successful peer-reviewed publications.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,900.00 - $77,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
