Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The NYPD’s Medical Division seeks to hire an OB/GYN Physician for the title of Police Surgeon. Responsibilities include determining the fitness for duty of members of service following obstetrical, gynecological, and general medical reviews. In addition, Police Surgeons are required to respond to hospitalized members of the service who are injured in the line of duty or seriously ill, participate in Department health fairs and other health initiatives, provide consults in their area of expertise, engage in Department research activities, provide expert testimony as needed, and participate in all cause disaster drills.

WORK LOCATION:

1 Lefrak City, Queens

HOURS/SHIFT:

Monday - Friday; 12 hours 30 minutes / week

Qualifications

  1. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York plus valid Board Certification issued by the appropriate American Specialty Board in any specialty area required by the Department.
