Amazon Principal Product Manager - Tech, Data Services in New York, New York

We are hiring for a Principal Product Manager (Technical) to drive the evolution of products which provide Amazon business teams and selling partners (marketplace sellers and retail vendors) with comprehensive, accurate, and standardized metrics in a timely manner to enable high quality, high velocity decisions. You will own and be responsible for leading the product development lifecycle for services that support online and offline use cases, cross-domain and historical time-series data. Your will set the strategy for your service to evolve and scale, enabling its customers to meet growing Amazon business needs without becoming a bottleneck. This role has direct impact on thousands of Amazonians and hundreds of thousands of selling partners globally and the tools they use to grow their businesses.

To succeed in this role you must be an experienced Principal Product Manager - Technical, who is a passionate advocate for customers. You should have a track record of end-to-end ownership, influencing across multiple teams and at the leadership level, and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. You should always be looking to invent and simplify. You must earn trust with technical credibility and pragmatic decision making, working with a cross-section of senior leaders and technical teams across Amazon.

The Principal Product Manager - Technical, will be fluent in a range of strategic and analytical approaches to product and technical leadership, including the ability to build compelling value propositions, influence stakeholders, and provide clarity on complex systems and dynamics via rigorously refined written and verbal communication.

A successfully candidate will

  • Work on large, important product initiatives. Define the long-term product strategy and vision to meet emerging customer needs, and the feature design and technical approach to deliver on this vision.

  • Be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-obsessed and team oriented. Drives alignment and coherent product feature, business, and evangelism strategies.

  • Drive strategic product communications, owns customer engagement and identify customer requirements by considering data, customer feedback, and user research, and designs product value propositions for large tech and cross-functional audiences.

  • Be able to manage multiple projects - including planning, prioritization, and task delegation. Work closely with developers through product launch.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define and drive the multi-year vision and technical approach for your product portfolio and the team

  • Work with senior technical and business leaders across Amazon Stores, as well as science, engineering, and finance leaders.

  • Deliver 3YP, Vision, PRFAQS, and BRD docs.

  • Own end-to-end product lifecycle including customer engagement, PR/FAQ, product requirements, CX design, security and compliance, prioritization, and deliver long-lasting solutions.

  • Mentor other product managers and continuously raise the technical product management bar within and outside the organization, sharing knowledge and presenting at internal conferences.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 11+ years of end to end product delivery experience

  • Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders

  • Experience in owning/managing a a highly-technical product or a product with technical customers (tech teams, engineers/scientists).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

  • Experience owning data-centric products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
