The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the respective study, the Research Coordinator assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. The individual will recruit and coordinate research subjects, as appropriate, and serve as the principal administrative liaison for the project. The Research Coordinator will develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. The Research Coordinator may be required to travel between the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NY, Allen Hospital, and NYP-Westchester.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes the start-up of studies, including preparation and submission of protocols to the IRB and training of study research interns and personnel
  • Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Organizes study meetings and study-related processes
  • Ensures compliance with the University's required certifications in Human Research Protection and HIPAA regulations.
  • Enrolls patients and obtains informed consent
  • Confers with study patients to explain the purpose of the research study and diagnostic procedures
  • Completes patient follow-up, as appropriate
  • Collects pertinent information and data from subject charts and records, subject interviews, and other sources
  • Completes case report forms (CRFs), including review of CRFs to ensure completeness
  • Maintains essential documents binders and regulatory documents
  • Communicated regularly with the research team and responds to all correspondences in a timely manner
  • Completes required training and Quality Assurance/Quality Control tasks
  • Performs other related duties as necessary
  • Some evening and weekend shifts may be required
  • Travel between different hospital sites required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent in education and two years of related experience
  • Prior involvement in the coordination and implementation of research projects and IRB
  • Experience in a health science discipline, such as biochemistry, anatomy, pathology, nursing, medical technology, public health, research administration, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish.
