Position Summary
This laboratory performs cancer research to decipher the cellular and molecular phenomena that occur in cancer to facilitate the development of new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. The lab's focus is on studying the telomere maintenance mechanism that is essential for the initiation and progression of cancer. The incumbent will perform basic molecular biology and keep clear records of experimental results. Additional responsibilities will include laboratory safety, organizing supplies, research reagents, equipment maintenance, monitoring and ordering laboratory supplies.
Responsibilities
- DNA and RNA preparation
- PCR, recombinant DNA cloning
- gel electrophoresis</li>
- Western blots and tissue culture
- Order/maintain lab supplies
- Other laboratory maintenance related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Good interpersonal communications skills are required.
- It will be necessary to work late on occasion to complete experiments.
- 0-Six months of experience in a research laboratory
- Computer skills a must (word/excel)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques.
