GKN Automotive 2nd Shift Group Leader in Newton, North Carolina

What you’ll do: Ensure customer requirements are met by creating production schedules, manpower planning, coaching the team toward continuous improvement of product quality and production efficiency.

Location: On-site at Newton, NC plant

Reports to: Plant Operations Manager

Direct Reports: 50

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide leadership to employees using the GKN Six promises and cultural standards.

  • Directly coaches employees and maintains a physical presence on the shift.

  • Manage the performance of team employees with the appropriate recognition, feedback and or discipline if necessary.

  • Maintain employee attendance information including vacation schedules, verification of time clock punches and training hours (E11) documentation.

  • Ensure that safety and housekeeping standards are met.

  • Plan for employee training, development, and cross-training.

  • Handle disciplinary problems, disputes, or conflicts effectively.

  • Encourage positive employee engagement by supporting the PVD/EI process.

  • Assist the team, engineering, other Value Streams and management to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Ensure that safety, quality, delivery and cost targets are met.

  • Develop and manage employee work schedule to include vacation requests LOAs, holidays, and overtime.

  • Expedite production, prototype and PPAP components.

  • Ensure that correct process control and associated documentation is utilized.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes.

  • Assist in the improvement of departmental layout.

  • Insure conformance to ISO/TS 16949 procedures and work instructions.

  • Assist in corrective actions related to internal customer complaints.

  • Insure efficient upkeep and utilization of equipment and PM.

  • Facilitate routine maintenance.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements.

  • Facilitate team meetings related to quality, cleanliness, safety, productivity and continuous improvement.

  • Effectively communicate updated production schedules at shift change

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a people leadership role

  • Proficient in use of computers programs such as E-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP, etc .
