Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Government Relations & Public Affairs (GRPA) supports the company’s efforts to create an environment in which the business, across all categories, can grow unencumbered. This position helps enhance relationships and delivers results with local stakeholders regarding the reputation of the company as a growth business and key community partner. The Senior Director, Government Relations & Public Affairs oversees government relations/issues management, leadership communications for all the company’s geographies, stakeholder relations and local community connections.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and manage Government Relations strategy for all the company geographies, inclusive of association memberships, stakeholder outreach, and issues management

  • Manage relationships with industry stakeholders, including Coca-Cola North American Operating Unit (NAOU), American Beverage Association (ABA), and other Coca-Cola system bottlers

  • Develop, manage and execute delivery of key messages to important stakeholder audiences to clearly define and communicate the company's strategic business priorities, i.e., issue positions impacting business, reputation management, ambassadorship, etc., while promoting and/or reaffirming company brands and programs

  • Manage government, stakeholder and community relationship building for all the company’s geographies

  • Serve as primary point of contact for business partners, including Market Unit Leadership

  • Provide counsel to the business on government relations trends, challenges, opportunities, etc., by making constructive recommendations around taking advantage of upcoming trends, assessing issues which need to be raised to the business, managing the dialogue around opportunities, etc.

  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans for Market Unit Leadership

  • Develop Government Relations budget recommendations for all the company geographies

  • Support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy by supporting work of the company’s Community Champions Network and executing community engagement opportunities, including data collection

  • Support company’s sustainability initiatives as needed

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, 12 plus years Government Relations and Public Affairs experience and 8 plus years of people leadership experience

  • Community Relations experience

  • Excellent verbal communication skills inclusive of presentations and advanced written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization

  • Strong relationship building skills with key business leaders and employees at all levels

  • Employee communications experience inclusive of leading communications in times of change, growth, integration, business transformation, etc.

  • Strong business acumen and a great understanding of how to leverage internal communications to enhance business success

  • Creative mindset

  • High energy

  • Resourceful

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent customer service skills both internally and externally

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to design appropriate, audience specific solutions to problems/issues

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.

  • Travel up to 30%

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
