Job Description Summary
The Senior Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) & Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer for GE Aerospace Research Center in Niskayuna, NY will support the Aerospace team, specifically the Aero Thermal Mechanical Systems (ATMS) research team and utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute EHS objectives and effect short-term and long-term business goals. Coordinate and maintain compliance with OSHA 1910.119 policies, processes, and procedures to mitigate risk of accident releases of hazardous chemicals. By providing technical expertise and anticipating, identifying, and addressing safety and health hazards related to GE Aerospace Research activities you will drive an injury and incident free work environment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as Process Safety Management(PSM) subject matter expert to facility and support business team
Develop PSM based enhancements and controls to site EHS programs and process designs
Lead the team in the management of site PSM program
Work with GE Aerospace Research ATMS team members to assess and control occupational exposure risk
Conduct EHS focused inspections and audits to ensure regulatory compliance
Facilitate EHS training
Conduct learning teams in response to safety events and conduct/validate incident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions to prevent event recurrence
Drive closure of corrective actions based on root-cause investigations
Coordinate EHS plans with consultants and contractors during onsite activities
Perform multimedia safety inspections and compliance audits and revalidates EHS operating system scorecards
Develop and maintain EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Assist Aerospace teams with Life Safety inspections, planning, and system impairment activities.
Provide technical expertise during EHS events to ensure the safety of site personnel and site infrastructure.
Provide technical expertise to support high risk operation risk assessment, work permit planning, and work execution.
Assist Aerospace team members with chemical management activities (incl. creating and maintaining chemical inventories, SDS management, training) and hazardous waste handling operations (incl. labeling, classification, disposal, and waste manifesting)
Provide input to Aerospace Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team.
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health Science, or other related discipline from an accredited university or college
5-10 years progressive EHS experience including management of a PSM program and overseeing a PSM regulated operation
Demonstrated technical expertise in managing EHS risks associated with Ergonomics, Electrical Safety, Control of Hazardous Energy programs, Safety Risk Assessments and Safe Operating Procedures, Management of Change, High Risk Operations, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental programs (air, stormwater, wastewater, waste), Training, Emergency Preparedness and Fire Protection, and Chemical Management
U.S. Citizenship required.

The base pay range for this position is $110,500 - $184,300 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on October 17th, 2024.
