Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Clerk within the construction/contractor industry, based in Norfolk, Virginia. The role entails the comprehensive management of accounts payable processes, with a strong emphasis on data entry, account reconciliation, and overhead cost recording.

Responsibilities:

• Process approximately 100 invoices weekly, ensuring accurate and timely logging of payments

• Perform heavy data entry duties, maintaining meticulous records of all transactions

• Regularly reconcile accounts payable, addressing any discrepancies swiftly and effectively

• Record overhead costs and expenses in a systematic and accurate manner

• Input journal entries into industry-specific software, ensuring all financial records are up-to-date

• Utilize Excel for various financial functions, displaying proficiency and accuracy

• Resolve any issues or inquiries related to accounts payable in a prompt and professional manner

• Monitor accounts for delinquency and take appropriate action to secure payment

• Utilize Sage Peachtree Windows software for various accounting tasks

• Carry out all tasks with a high level of attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the role. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role or similar position within the Construction/Contractor industry

• Proficiency in using Sage Peachtree Windows for managing financial data

• Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Demonstrable ability to maintain accurate financial records and prepare clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing, and operational use

• Strong skills in arithmetic and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of financial data

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with vendors, suppliers, and team members

• Knowledge of general accounting principles and regulatory standards

• Demonstrable ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive and discreet manner.
