Robert Half Benefits Coordinator in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are in search of a Benefits Coordinator for a contract position in the shipping industry, based in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves the administration of a comprehensive employee Health and Welfare benefits program across multiple states, the management of wellness programs, and the facilitation of employee retirement savings plans.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in benefits administration including enrollment, employee deductions, insurance billing reconciliation, and incentive programs. • Deliver benefit presentations to employees and assist in annual projects such as Total Comp Statements, census reporting, renewals, and budget projections. • Generate benefits-related reports from HRIS and benefit vendors’ systems. • Resolve benefits-related administration questions or problems for employees, liaising with carriers to provide resolution and escalating issues as necessary. • Process weekly HSA reimbursements and Tuition Reimbursement applications as needed. • Assist with employee communication materials to promote understanding. • Assist with 401(k) and Pension Plan administration when necessary. • Work with third-party administrators, human resources team, and payroll to administer all disability, family, and medical leaves. • Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements. • Assist with annual health and welfare audits and for compiling and reporting annual required filings with the IRS and DOL. • Provide employee and management training related to benefit policies and laws. • Maintain benefits and HIPPA records including enrollments, applications, and other documents required for all benefit plans.

• In-depth understanding of benefit functions within the transport industry

• Proven experience in claim administration

• Knowledge of compensation administration

• Familiarity with compliance regulations and standards

• Experience in benefits administration

• Ability to develop and manage employee wellness programs

• Experience in handling disability claims

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field

• detail oriented certification in Compensation and Benefits would be an advantage.
