Job Description
Provides analytical, technical and administrative support to the Chair, Associate Chairs, CDA and program directors within the English Department. Assists approximately 50 full-time faculty, 70 Contingent faculty and 14 Graduate Teaching Assistants with instructional/classroom concerns such as course guidelines/procedures, room changes, equipment needs, & enrollment. Assists the Office Manager with scheduling by checking classes each semester to ensure adjunct personnel are correctly added to the schedule. Assists Office Manager with payroll process using Banner program SIAASGN and the FLAC program to ensure correct payment for adjuncts. Under the direction of the Associate Chair, inputs documentation/information on all classes offered in the English department and makes changes as needed. Assists with textbook orders for faculty in the English department; orders textbooks for contingent faculty, assuring that all book orders are received and processed by the Bookstore.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Considerable knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet software. Must be able to create spreadsheets for information required by the English department. Must have excellent keyboarding skills, along with excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.

Considerable clerical and office experience, to include maintaining records and creating reports.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Working knowledge of Banner software programs. Some experience with various types of computer software programs (WP, MSWord, Excel and Access). Certification in Microsoft Access or related spreadsheet / database software. Familiarity with Banner course scheduling preferred. Related experience in a higher educational setting.
