Louisiana-Pacific Corporation Quality Specialist in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina
Job Purpose: Provide problem-solving support to operations and secondary processes as needed. Lead and facilitate projects to accomplish established objectives. In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and regulations and participate in facility health and safety activities as assigned.
- Be proactive in identifying and performing tasks to maintain and improve safety, quality, and environmental performance.
- Ensure all relevant quality requirement are consistently met according to the QC manual, Control plans, and plant SOPs.
- Ensure plant compliance with all internal product specifications, and corporate quality policies.
- Substitute the role of the Quality Manager as needed.
- Lead process and product tests/trials as assigned. Compile, analyze, and report trial test results as required.
- Manage quality systems to assure consistent process and product performance while maintaining maximum production and safe work habits.
- Manage quality records, databases, and controlled documents in accordance with corporate record retention policies.
- Generate routine quality reports for internal communication.

- Strong computer spreadsheet software and SPC software skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of statistical process controls.
- Skill in leading, planning, coaching, training, and supervising. Ability to hold people accountable.
- Moderate knowledge of JHA, JSA, Job Processes Maps, and Environmental Management System for this position.
- Expert knowledge of SPC and quality related computer programs to ensure continuous data stream.
- Advance understanding of procedures in QMS manual.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related field preferred.
- ASQ Certification, Lean Six Sigma Training, or other applicable training desirable.
- Adequate combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities.
- Minimum of 2 years quality related experience.
- Manufacturing experience desirable.
- Industry experience preferable with statistical analysis and interpretation of manufacturing data.
Work Environment:
- The lab and manufacturing environment includes exposure to moving parts, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles and high temperatures.
- The employee must have the ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, work in inclement weather, and work with elevated noise levels.
- The position requires the ability to frequently lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
