In the R&D team in Nottingham, we create high performance precision machines able to print and label at high speed onto consumer goods. Helping to design mechatronic systems, you may find yourself working with motion control, signal processing, image recognition, communication technologies and cryptography

In this role, in a typical day you will:

• Be a member of the Nottingham-based R&D team, reporting to a Software Team Leader within the wider Software Team

• Interpret customer specifications and provide technical solutions to engineering problems

• Provide designs and technical solutions to new technology developments within our R&D Technology team

• Design, implement, and maintain software in C++ for new and existing products

• Collaborate closely with electronic, mechanical and other software engineers, and be responsible for: technical reviews, feasibility studies and project reviews as appropriate

The essential requirements of the role include:

• Excellent knowledge of C++ ideally for microprocessor (embedded) applications

• Good experience of building software for Windows and WinCE, or realtime operating systems (RTOS)

• Ideally an understanding of real-time and concurrent principles and an appreciation of networked devices, distributed processes, and packet-based protocols

• Ideally experience of electronics control/interfacing motors, sensors etc

• Knowledge of Linux operating systems desirable
