SUMMARY: Under general direction, provides administrative and specialized contracting support for the Purchasing Department. The Purchasing & Contracts Specialist is a skilled category, acting independently. Work is collaborative and detailed; responsible for reviewing executed contracts and initiating purchase orders. The individual in this position perform related duties within the Purchasing Department, as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE : The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Reviews/evaluates information provided by Non-Physician Contracting Department and creates related Purchase Orders (POs).

  2. Enters data into AHS' contracts management application.

  3. Provides Purchase Order information to vendors and business owners.

  4. Prepares ad-hoc reports and correspondence for AHS management.

  5. Represents the Purchasing Department on subcommittees.

  6. Assists with ensuring/monitoring contract pricing compliance for goods. 7. Assists other Purchasing staff, as necessary. This may include the purchasing of commodities/products; expediting existing orders; creating POs for purchases of capital equipment; acting as a guide/information resource as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university is highly preferred. Experience: Five years experience in contracting-related functions, preferably related to the hospital or healthcare field.
