Min Experience: 2 years

Annual Base Salary:  $70,000 to $85,000

Bonus Potential:  $5,000

Overall compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus or commission if sales) for this role will be provided commensurate with years of experience and qualifications.

Position

GreenBiz Group is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant. This position will play a critical role in our accounting operations by supporting the monthly and quarterly accounting close and financial reporting. This role will report to the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting understanding, and one that is proactive, self-directed, and enthusiastic. This individual contributor role will have the opportunity to support the development of the accounting function, including building or improving processes and creating efficiencies for the team. This is a hybrid position expected to be in our HQ Oakland, CA office a minimum of one day a week. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications and bank reconciliations.

  • Working effectively with all members of the accounting team to perform month-end and year-end close in compliance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with other departments and external partners, including customers and vendors. 

  • Assist in support of any external audits, including preparation of audit requests and ongoing support.

  • Work alongside the Accounting Manager to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.

  • Special projects and analyses as required along with any other job- related activities as requested.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.

  • Professional certification such as CPA is a plus, but not required. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally with a mix of public accounting and industry experience.

  • Prior experience working in a startup environment or high-growth company is highly preferred. 

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles and practice.

  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Experience with financial reporting, with strong attention to detail and structured thinking, and able to problem solve solutions for ambiguous situations.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven track record of taking ownership of tasks, demonstrating initiative, and consistently solving problems with a proactive approach.

  • Must show accountability, be a team player and operate with a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent skill with Excel and other common computer applications.

  • Experience with NetSuite or a major ERP accounting system.
