SUMMARY:

The Sr. Accountant Analyst is a key team member on our accounting and finance team. Works with peers in the team to perform monthly close processes, including the posting of journal entries and preparation of reconciliations, preparing various on-demand and periodic financial reporting, assists with forecasting and budgeting, and other ad hoc requests. Work must be completed accurately and within stated deadlines. Applies lean, continuous improvement tools and skills to drive metric/process improvements as part of the Finance HPT. Possesses knowledge of GAAP, the highest level of integrity, and adheres to compliance with stated SOX controls in the execution of all assigned duties. Advises leadership of concerns and potential problems when aware.

SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION:

This is a key role, reporting to our Ogden, UT Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Participates in the monthly financial close process which involves considerable interaction with other team members across the organization and includes the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting within stated timelines

Prepares standard and ad hoc financial reporting accurately and timely

Compiles and analyzes complex accounting information to provide management with accounting information necessary to make critical business decisions.

Support various internal, external, and peer financial audits to insure adherence to current accounting policies and practices, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and stated SOX controls.

Engages in continuous improvement efforts within the assigned HPT including the development/improvement of standard work

Applies and leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of internal systems and processes within the division and/or with corporate and customer involvement.

Advises and alerts leadership to recommended actions that will improve financial metrics and/or profitability as well as potential concerns or issues. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and policies.

Expected to become a functional subject matter expert within the department who will mentor other team members and advise leadership on various financial matters of high complexity

Establishes goals and objectives required to lead and complete projects.

Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams. Shares specialized knowledge with others. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree (BS) in Accounting.

10+ years of related experience and demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Aerospace manufacturing experience a plus.

Proficient with automated accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial reports.

Excellent communication skills

Ability to step back and be a critical thinker

Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement a strong plus
