Continental Resources Associate Accountant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Summary

Responsibilities are moderately complex requiring more developed proficiency in various accounting techniques. Professional accounting position that receives owner inquiries and reviews and responds to owner courteously, timely, and accurately. Responsible for accounting processes regarding owner revenue distribution issues.

Performs routine and structured work assignments. Contributes to projects within a team, function, or work group. Knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and practices in the area of specialization. Exercises limited discretion within established procedures to solve problems of limited scope and complexity. Works under direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible for assisting with revenue owner relations, 1099’s, outside operated check input, interest calculations, legal requests, and reconciliation activities at Continental Resources, Inc. including but not limited to:

  • Manage Revenue Distribution email account regarding owner inquiries with revenue-related questions and respond courteously, timely, and accurately. Respond to owner phone calls and to inquiries sent via mail.

  • Manage Revenue voucher returned emails and returned revenue checks.

  • Maintain voided check ledger. Void stale dated checks and other checks as needed.

  • Assist with owner 1099 questions. Print and verify 1099’s upon request.

  • Prepare owner interest calculations due late royalty payments.

  • Assist with legal requests regarding owner payments.

  • Process manual journal entries to owner's payable accounts.

  • Assist in processing OSO Oil and Gas Purchaser payments accurately and by specified closing deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university

  • Experience with MS Excel

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior revenue recognition experience

  • Oil and gas accounting experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of SAP

  • Proficiency in MS Word

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
