DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Service Writer is responsible for providing support to the Service Manager, Service Team, and customers. Responsibilities include liaising with customers and determine needs, providing clear and precise instructions on the work order for the technician, estimating and scheduling the work required, following through to make sure the work is completed correctly the first time in a timely manner and invoicing and collecting payment in a prompt and timely manner prior to vessels departure. The Service Writer may also assist with parts purchases in the Ship's Store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Provide support to Service Manager, Service Team, and customers * Determine all needs and act as liaison between customers and Service Manager * Provide clear and precise instructions on the work order for technicians * Estimate and schedule all required work * Ensure all work orders are completed in a timely manner * Generate invoice for all work provided by service departments * Collect payment in a timely manner * Continuously meets ongoing company goals * Available to work overtime when required to meet deadlines * Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities * Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training. * Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. * Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
