Position Overview

We are adding a Staff Accountant 2 to our Financial Controls team, supporting Kiewit's diverse organization, based in our Omaha headquarters. You will be expected prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements and reports to ensure compliance with regulations and legal standards. Location

This position is based in our headquarters office in Omaha, NE.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports for accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards

  • Assist in various project and financial accounting tasks as part of the quarterly and year-end close processes

  • Assist project and financial accounting managers with other accounting-related matters, ad hoc requests, and special projects

  • Review work of other accountants in the department

  • Support internal and external auditors as needed

  • Collaborate with other home office and district departments as necessary

  • Prepare footnotes for parent and subsidiary financial statements

Qualifications

A successful candidate will be highly motivated and can build professional relationships quickly and naturally. These relationships will bring this candidate the credibility needed to operate as a successful business partner within Kiewit and our partners.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Must have 2 years’ experience in financial/cost accounting functions

  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze underlying principles, reasons or facts surrounding financial reports

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to quickly adapt to field-based operational practices

  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to plan and prioritize work, and handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
