Crown Communications, Incorporated Electronics Installation Technician in Ontario, California

::: section Crown is hiring Full-Time Electronics Technicians to join our team of floating electronics installers. This position is 100% traveland will be assigned to a geographical part of the United States, likely in conjunction with FAA regional boundaries.Veterans are encoraged to apply.

This position requires a level of confidence to work in geographic isolation, so the candidate must have the technical knowledge and aptitude to create solutions in unique situations.

The Electronics Technician will receive technical advice from a Technical Manager and/or Engineer, however, the Tech will still be expected to work largely in a stand-alone capacity due to the nature of the work, and will need to be a de-facto on-site Electronic/Communications Subject matter Expert (SME).

Although each installation is unique, typical duties include:

  • Conducting a pre-installation meeting
  • Removal and disposal of existing communications equipment
  • Coordinating frequency outages
  • Installation of new radio racks and radios, along with other GFE
  • Installation of new/upgraded conduit and cable trays
  • Removal and replacement of antennas
  • Installation of junction boxes
  • Electronics testing procedures
  • Other duties as assigned :::

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Preferred Electronics Degree or at least 2-5 years of related experience installing/fabricating Military, Federal or Commercial Radio electronic equipment or fiber optic cable including some experience installing/fabricating FAA National Airspace (NAS) communications systems and cabling and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of the software and alignment of VHF and UHF AM radios, as well as setup capability for the RCE (radio control equipment).
  • Desired 2years of climbing experience on self-support, monopole and guyed towers from a minimum of 30 feet to over 100 feet.
    • Able to climb and work at heights in excess of 60, and able climb towers to install Junction Boxes, Cabling, Antennas, Lightning Protection devices and grounding systems.
  • Thorough understanding in the use of manual and power tools, test equipment such as multi-meter, ohmmeter, power meter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel.
  • An understanding and ability to connect Telco requirements (including Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, Fiber Optics, etc.).
  • Able to take initial electronic baseline readings and generate the necessary paperwork FRDF (Facility Reference Data File), IAW Initial Tolerances described in the Technical Handbooks provided by the FAA for the various systems.
  • Ability and/or experience to interface with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), both Air Traffic and Technical Operations, during a radio installation and follow the provided engineering package and participate in any changes that may have to be implemented in the field.
  • Able to provide leadership during a site installation, which may include multiple installation and/or construction crews, and able to effectively communicate to installation crew and management with the ability to manage the many stakeholders expectations.
  • An understanding of the practical implications of electrical and electronic circuitry, and have the experience and the ability to read, understand and implement engineering diagrams and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot electrical and electronic equipment necessary within the scope of a radio replacement project and/or technical refresh.
  • Able stand, sit or crouch in one position for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to move objects with the use of hand truck or pallet jack weighing up to 350 lbs.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Able to occasionally perform assigned work under severe time restraints.
  • Able to work with minimal o non-standard supervision.
  • Willing to travel 100%.
  • Team player with theability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Able to pass a Government background check.
  • Able to work non-standard hours depending on site requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
