Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking two adjunct faculty for the fall of 2024 to work under administrative direction from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program director, department chairperson, and dean, performing some or all of the following duties:
• Design and teach assigned course(s) in the CMHC program;
• Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught based on CACREP requirements.
• Prepare instructional materials (e.g., course outline, syllabus, evaluation, and homework activities such as quizzes, papers and/or exams, visual aids for lecture content, handouts, etc.);
• Instruct students using appropriate teaching methods; Evaluate learning using appropriate testing methods; Maintain a student-oriented approach to education;
• Recommend students for advancement and graduation when requested; Maintain accurate records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up;
• Submit accurate and timely reports when requested or required;
• Assist program director, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program; Serve on committees and attend faculty and other meetings when invited; Become thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement, and adhere to these policies; Maintain safe classroom condition and interactions.
• Appropriately refers to OTL-recommended methods and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a closely related area in the state of Utah AND a masters level degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university program with a doctoral degree in CES or a closely related area AND one year of experience teaching masters-level students

• Knowledge of subject matter and course content
• Skill in effective instructional strategies and techniques
• Effective interpersonal, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students and instruction
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
