This role sits in the Data Products & Platforms organization within DX and as an Sr Manager of Data Platform Engineering, you will report into the Director, Data Products & Platforms who oversees Engineering & Architecture.

Join Disney Experiences as the Sr Manager of Data Platform Engineering, where you will own the engineering of data software features and capabilities for a centralized data platform that enables analytics, business intelligence, and real-time decision making. Our mission is to deliver innovative data capabilities that enable data engineers to deliver highly trusted and scalable data assets. You will play a pivotal role in realizing that vision by owning the development of scalable and efficient data platform solutions. You will provide strategic data and technology leadership to align our data capability roadmap, engineering delivery practices, and operational services on our centralized platform.

You Will:

  • Own the development and execution of platform engineering strategies for our data platform, ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and security.

  • Lead multiple teams of engineers, setting clear delivery objectives, mentoring for growth, and fostering an innovative work environment.

  • Lead all aspects of the research and integration of new technologies, techniques, and data management practices into the ecosystem, continuously enhancing our ability to ingest, storage, process, deploy, and secure data in our platform.

  • Collaborate with data reference architecture, data delivery teams, and business partners to ensure and continuously measure the data platform's ability to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Lead continuous enhancement initiatives for our DevOps practices and infrastructure, optimizing performance and ensuring scalable expansion.

  • Partner with Data Governance teams to ensure the platform aligns with compliance and security policies, protecting data and aligning with industry standard processes.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in data platform engineering, with strong leadership in running large-scale data infrastructure.

  • Strong technical experience in architecture and engineering, particularly with ecosystems that support both analytics and real-time operations.

  • Understands trade-offs between different data storage systems and architectures (data warehouses, SQL vs NoSQL, partitioning, etc)

  • Experience designing and implementing solutions using AWS services, with a deep understanding of AWS core services: IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS.

  • Experience with delivering reusable data capabilities, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, etc), and data contracts.

  • Experience coding in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Experience with real-time event based data, including concepts like complex event processing at scale using frameworks like Flink.

  • Excellent storytelling skills, capable of effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical partners.

  • Ability to run multiple initiatives and work streams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, balancing speed with quality and value.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in the entertainment or digital media industry.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $180,646.00 to $242,330.00 per year and in Washington is $189,256.00 to $253,880.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
