Aston Carter Senior Manager Accounts Payable in Overland Park, Kansas

This position will manage and oversee the accounts payable function, including supplier onboarding and record maintenance, invoice processing, disbursements, supplier and internal business partner inquiries, and 1099 and tax-related matters. The role focuses on optimizing accounts payable processes, developing and maintaining procedures and policies, and ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). The Senior Manager will also develop relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate communication and performance, oversee offshore staff compliance, manage a team of employees, handle the annual department budget, and manage vendor selection and relationships related to AP. Additionally, this role partners with FP&A, Treasury, and Procurement to manage and improve key metrics such as Operating Free Cash Flow (OFCF).

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance.

  • 7+ years of experience managing corporate AP with at least $12B annual disbursement.

  • 7+ years of experience in Accounts Payable/Procure-to-Pay business experience in SAP and/or Oracle.

  • 4+ years of experience managing offshore staff.

  • Proficiency in accounts payable, leadership, organization, communication, SAP or Oracle, analytics, and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide department strategy and guidance on execution, operational excellence, and customer service.

  • Coordinate and partner with leaders of AP support functions such as reporting & analytics, system support team, and risk & compliance.

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including onshore and offshore staff.

  • Implement continuous operational improvements for the Procure-to-Pay cycle in partnership with Supply Chain Operations, Direct Procurement, and EIT/Engineering.

  • Handle escalations, ensuring issue closure, performing root cause analysis, and closing gaps.

  • Lead activities related to Operating Free Cash Flow.

  • Manage relationships with internal and external business partners.

  • Interact with Procurement and location personnel at all levels to troubleshoot root cause issues in the Requisition to Payment cycle.

  • Act as a leader and provide direction for the team and area of responsibility.

  • Participate as a stakeholder in enterprise projects.

  • Lead and participate in Finance and MSC-led initiatives.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching on specific tasks and individual professional development.

  • Mentor others in understanding the big picture as well as the details, tying initiatives to company goals.

  • Handle other duties/projects as assigned by business management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred skills include accounting, project management, and ERP replacement experience.

Work Environment

The accounting team is based in one of the four buildings on the campus. This position operates on a hybrid schedule, with three days in the office and two days chosen by the employee. The campus features a full gym and locker room, a cafeteria with free lunch daily, and recreational facilities such as ping pong tables, putting greens, and foosball.
