Quality Manager Reports to: Director of Engineering                                      Department: Quality Job Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible the strategic direction and leadership of the quality department. This includes being the main point of contact for customer issues, responsibility for Quality Management System and creating, improving and tracking departmental metrics. The focus of the Quality Manager will be to continuously improve the department through personnel development, implementation of strategic projects and increasing departmental efficiency through use of technology. The Quality manager will champion problem solving by identifying, facilitating Continuous Improvement events and tracking results to ensure sustainment.

Essential Functions:

  • Sets strategic direction of the Quality Department. Creates and tracks goals and objectives, creates development plans for reports and identifies training needs for the department.

  • Main point of contact for customer quality issues. Communicate directly with customer concerning quality issues, expeditiously follow up with the customer by verbal and/or written reports explaining the best solution to solve the problem and ensures sustainment.

  • Responsible for Quality Management System (QMS) compliance.  Manages all company quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure continuous conformance with appropriate standards regulations and customer requirements.

  • Responsible for ISO audits, ISO compliance, internal audits and identifying opportunities for improvements. Update and manage ISO work instructions.

  • Use available data to prioritize internal and external quality issues, supplier issues and systemic product or manufacturing problems.

  • Champion Continuous Improvement by choosing CI events, facilitating events and following up/track sustainability of projects.

  • Champion problem solving by training on best methods and implementing sustainable countermeasures. Use of root cause analysis for implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions for product and process related concerns

  • Increases the efficiency of the quality department by utilization of new tools, technology, and best practices.

  • Incorporate use of statistical methods in daily functions such as sampling plans, process controls, design of experiments and process capabilities

  • Prepare reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing data and makes recommendations.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of production processes and facilities to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in quality management and incorporate relevant advancements into our quality control processes.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, and experience with implementing and maintaining these systems.

  • Proven track record of leading successful quality improvement initiatives and driving measurable results.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and patterns in complex data sets.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ Certified Quality Manager) is a plus.
