A Brief Overview

The primary responsibility of the Trauma Registrar III is Trauma Registry data abstraction, ICD-10 Coding, AIS coding, E-Coding, Procedure coding, data entry into the Trauma Registry, and concurrent participation in the Trauma Performance Improvement process at Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Lucille Packard children's Hospital, and Santa Clara County EMS, , in accordance with the American College of Surgeons, Santa Clara County, and California TItle XXII Trauma Center regulations. The main role is to provide timely and accurate abstraction, coding, injury scoring, and identification of performance improvement issues, through review of the medical record, from time of injury through hospital discharge of trauma patients. The Trauma Registrar III actively participates in local, regional and statewide trauma meetings and educational offerings. The Trauma Registrar III is a liaison to other members of the healthcare team who provide care to trauma patients. The trauma Registrar III supports trauma performance improvement and research at Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. The Trauma Registrar must adhere to HIPAA requirements, confidentiality and security.

  • Performs duties of the Trauma Registrar II role including the duties listed below

  • Participates in registry related activities during ACS-COT site visit

  • Advanced Report Writing

  • Participates in TQIP Data Submissions

  • Representative on Internal Meetings/Activities that are not registrar specific

  • Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives

Education Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Medical Record Management Terminology, Nursing or Health Related Field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 5 Years of Professional Trauma Registrar Experience

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) .

  • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) .

  • ICD-10 Course Completion (Current) .

  • Two Certifications in Job Related Experience (Examples: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, CHDA) .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $45.47 - $51.21 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
