Provides high-level technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and advanced building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and oversight and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Provides advanced technical expertise and coordination for maintenance operations including prioritizing projects, monitoring correspondence and writing memorandums and reports.Assists in planning, developing, administering and monitoring district maintenance contracts and service agreements.Assists in prioritizing and scheduling projects.Implements the Vegetation/Herbicide Program.May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Plans, coordinates and schedules bridge inspection and Bridge Inspection Program activities.Prepares bridge inspection follow-up worksheet for maintenance and gives instruction for recommended actions; monitors follow-up actions taken by maintenance.Trains and makes training-related recommendations to staff on new operations.Travels to districts and maintenance offices to perform site visits and monitor maintenance programs.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
