Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Geologist and Project Manager to join our Environmental team in southern California! In this role you will get to work within a highly-skilled team to deliver a cleaner, safer planet for our customers and future generations. Our team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to perform complex and important environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation projects. Responsibilities :

  • Develop and conduct complex field work and/or oversee field teams and subcontractors to gather various types of geological, hydrogeological, and other field data.

  • Prepare, oversee, and/or review well-written, thorough, and high-quality environmental technical documents such as reports, technical memoranda, project plans, proposals, subcontracts, powerpoint slides, maps, figures, cross sections, and geologic logs.

  • Evaluate and draw conclusions from analytical, geological, environmental, and field data.

  • Work independently with minimal oversight on slightly to moderately complex assignments.

  • May supervise or oversee junior- to mid- level environmental staff, directing project tasks.

  • Serve in an advisory capacity to senior management on specific geology related matters.

  • Ensure quality control in assigned tasks.

  • Manage environmental investigation or remediation projects of varying size to ensure projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Work closely with Program and Project Managers, and financial, procurement, scientific technical, field, and administrative staff, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to achieve project goals.

  • Assist in coordination/training activities with other Parsons staff.

  • Assist in preparation of proposals and cost estimates and in soliciting bids from subcontractors/suppliers.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and 10+ years of related work experience, including experience as a project manager and task leader in the environmental consulting field.

  • California certified Professional Geologist certification

  • Successful completion of Parsons’ Project Manager Training upon hire

  • Strong technical knowledge of environmental, geologic, and hydrogeologic concepts and practices.

  • Knowledge of California environmental regulations, specifically those for California DTSC.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time between a home office and project locations throughout California. Ideally this position will be located in southern California.

  • Experience in delivering well-written, thorough, and high-quality technical reports, project plans, subcontract statements of work, proposals, cost estimates, and meeting presentation materials, financial tracking, and leading teams.

  • Significant experience conducting and overseeing field programs (subcontractor oversight, various types of drilling, aquifer tests, and groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and air sampling).

  • Maturity in interaction with staff of all levels and backgrounds, clients, regulators, subcontractors, the public, and other stakeholders.

  • Required skills: excellent written and oral communication, problem-solving, leadership, effective delegation, attention to detail, organization, adaptability, and ability to work both independently or collaboratively within a team.

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability and willingness to travel occasionally to and from field locations within California.

Salary Range:

$83,300.00 - $145,800.00
