THE POSITION

Do you want to make a difference for students by developing programs and leading initiatives that provide for safe and supportive learning environments in schools? Join the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a Basic Education Associate 2 to help ensure that every learner has access to a world-class education system that academically prepares them to succeed as productive citizens!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide leadership and technical assistance in the development, improvement, and expansion of school safety initiatives. This will include, but is not limited to, the development of statewide plans that provide anti-violence resources for schools, oversight of the development of emergency management and crisis management plans for schools, working with statewide committees, organizing Safe Schools’ IU Regional Coordinators, and policy review.

The position will involve some travel throughout the state working with school entities, community-based organizations, government agencies, and local police departments to assess area needs and provide or link schools to resources. Program development, data analysis, leadership, and relationship-building are key strengths for this position. Make a positive difference in Pennsylvania schools with our team!

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. This position currently works in-office on Thursdays. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Basic Education Associate l;or

  • Five years of professional experience in the field of education;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires the selected candidate to have at least three (3) years of professional experience in K-12 environment.
