THE POSITION

Our sworn officers provide general police work by providing services and protection to employees, the public, property, facilities, and grounds. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Installation Police Officer, DMVA, you are a sworn police officer and exercises the power of arrest. Duties include patrolling federal and state-owned buildings and grounds; and enforcing federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations through warnings, citations, or arrests. You investigate vehicle accidents involving persons or property; criminal activity, suspected activity, or reported crimes, and reports findings ; and unusual incidents, fires, or other hazards.

Work is performed independently within operating policies and involves situations that may be dangerous or stressful in nature. Detailed instructions are contained in the Standard Operating Procedures. The Police Chief provides special written and verbal instructions and issues these instructions on an as needed basis.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, rotating shifts, rotating days, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.

Special Requirement:

  • All candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

  • All candidates must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap. Must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
