Please note this role is advertised on a 12 month FTC.

Your Role: You will offer expertise on employment screening, contracts of employment, mandatory training completion and right to work checks, which are essential to the successful onboarding of employees.

The Team: You will be part of our People Operations team, that deliver expertise on HR administration, compliance and HR data to our customers across the News UK business. We achieve this through specialist knowledge of our area and by taking ownership of the customer experience. We implement solutions which meet the business’s needs, protect the business from risk and deliver a great employee experience.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce and issue offer letters, contracts of employment and starter packs for all new starters at News UK

  • Conduct employment screening checks/right to work checks

  • Provide proactive advice and guidance to our stakeholders on contractual terms during the offer and onboarding process

  • Ensure new starter details are accurately recorded in our HR Information System

  • Maintain all employment contract templates ensuring that any changes are accurately and consistently updated

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Company’s employment screening processes

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Company’s right to work processes

  • Foster professional and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders

  • Act as an expert advisor in the subject areas within your team’s remit and within People Operations

  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of any changes to employment contract templates

  • Provide advice and assistance to our employees

  • Provide input into continuous improvement of all HR processes and protocols ensuring that established processes are followed

What we’re looking for from you:

  • A strong customer focus and passion for service delivery

  • A collaborative approach with ability to build effective relationships

  • Ability to question and challenge appropriately

  • Initiative to research issues and solve problems independently

  • Excellent administration skills and attention to detail

  • Previous experience with using HR systems (such as SAP) is desired, but not essential

  • An awareness of UK employment legislation relevant to the subject areas within your team’s remit, including right to work checks and employment contracts
